Are Your Students Prepared To Start Their Post High School Lives?

Can your students handle money responsibly?  Have they learned to communicate effectively? Do they know how to handle anxiety?

It is alarming to think that our graduating students have a limited knowledge regarding so many of life’s most needed skills. This information is too important to simply rely on parents to teach at home. Both parents and educators should play an active role in preparing students for the future.

Why Provide

Life Skills Education?

What is the benefit to providing an education on life skills alongside an academic curriculum? Teaching essential skills will help to give students an edge as they grow up and move out into the world. Students need to develop competence and personal skills that will enable them to communicate with others, make important decisions, and manage themselves.

What Are Essential Life Skills?

An exhaustive list of essential life skills would be excessive to compile, but there are many individual skills that contribute to the learning of a greater overall skill.

Students can benefit from learning how to solve problems that they are likely to encounter in the real world. Knowing these skills can give students confidence and help them to be prepared to handle themselves when the need for those skills arises in their future.

All students deserve to arrive at their futures with the necessary toolbox to be effective, impactful citizens of our society. They need to gain those life skills somewhere, and the reality is that many students do not have the outside experiences to gain those on their own. At LSM, we believe that it is imperative that schools step in to fill that void and provide opportunities and resources for students to become their personal best.
